Demand for home loans rose more than expected in October, official data showed.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the number of home loans granted in October rose 0.3 per cent in seasonally adjusted terms to 51,720.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg had expected the number of housing finance commitments to rise by 0.1 per cent in the month.
Total housing finance by value rose 1 per cent in October, seasonally adjusted, to $29.20bn.
The value of investor lending rose 1 per cent in the month to $12.09bn.
