Transfield Services has gained a foothold in Australia's tertiary education sector, scoring a five-year management and property services deal with the University of Newcastle worth $88 million.
The Sydney-based company said today it signed the contract to provide facility management and property services across the University's metropolitan and regional campuses in New South Wales, starting next month.
"The tertiary education sector, along with the defence, social and property sectors, represent exciting growth markets for Transfield," chief executive Graeme Hunt said.
"The engagement...supports Transfield Services' successful expansion into the tertiary education sector," he said.
The deal contained a provision to extend the scope of work to provide capital and upgrade works.
The agreement forms part of $145m in new work the group has signed recently, following a $45m contract extension with NSW Land and Housing Corporation and Gold Coast University Hospital works worth $12m.
